What exactly is meant by rooting an Android phone?
Asked: What exactly is meant by rooting an Android phone?
I own a Samsung Galaxy Note 2, running Jelly Bean 4.1.2. Many of my friends have said that rooting a phone gives superior service. I have some apps that need a rooted device such a reverse tethering, and my phone tracking functionality.
I Googled rooting, and came up with a lot of information, but understood very little. It gives you administrative privileges, etc, but I didn't understand that. Also, I've read about the risks, something called bricking. I'm also aware of the fact that rooting my device will void the warranty.
I'm very satisfied with my device and os, and don't see any need to install a custom ROM, or whatever that is.
I would be obliged if you could explain to me what exact is rooting, what it does, what are the benefits and risks. And if something does go wrong, is it possible to fix?
just visit http://www.xda-developers.com/android/ro
rooting is basically all the beneficial with no demerits except voiding warranty but you can unroot your phone anytime and get your warranty back. as you are very much satisfied with your phone and dont wanna install any custom rom on your device, you should not root your device. and there is nothing like bricking. bricked phone can always be cured. but remember with rooting, your phone can become much better
